About The Niger Delta

Size
70,000 sq km making up nine States, three core: Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta and also Abia, Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers, Edo, Imo and Ondo.
Natural resources
The Niger Delta region accounts for over 90 per cent of Nigeria's proven gas and oil reserves. Proven gas reserves were 4.502 trillion (cu m) in 2005 and proven oil reserves were 36 billion (cu m) in 2003.
Topography
The Niger Delta is the world's second largest wetland dominated by mangrove swamps and low lying alluvial plains making it one of the most fertile regions on Earth.
