Groundwork was a project focused on women’s rights in society, specifically in the Niger Delta. It was implemented between 2009- 2011 by Stakeholder Democracy Network to improve human rights conditions, particularly pertaining women in Niger Delta communities.

The aim of this project was to adapt the women’s role in the Delta region, to incite cultural and institutional change. Education implementation at the grassroot level was one mechanism used to create a foundation for women’s role in politics and to develop greater self- reliance. Eventually, Stakeholder Democracy Network want to create a more holistic perception of the women’s role in society by building women in advocacy and educating them regarding their rights, which will enable the mobilisation of women for grassroots action.
